What will architecture’s contribution be to the future of a real contemporary city? Architects cannot only formulate questions, but are also able to design answers, for instance in a very concrete manner, to take Graz as an example.

From 26th to 28th of May 2011 the Dense Cities Symposium was held in the Aula and the auditorium 1 at the Graz University of Technology.

The magazines Archithese, Zuschnitt and Architektur&Bauforum have dedicated an issue to the topic of “Dense Cities”.

Main focus is the role of architecture in providing a sustainable and high quality living environment within compact cities.
